Epimedium grandiflorum L. ist ein chinesisches Kräuterarzneimittel mit nachgewiesener Wirksamkeit bei der Behandlung von Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen und Osteoporose sowie bei der Verbesserung sexueller und neurologischer Funktionen. Seine Wurzel und sein Blatt haben die gleiche Wirksamkeit, aber die medizinische Wirksamkeit der Blätter ist stärker als die der Wurzeln, da der Gehalt an medizinischen Inhaltsstoffen in den Blättern höher ist.
